THE MERRY-GO- ROUND
EPISODES
Started in 2020, The Merry-Go-Round Episodes is an immersive and concept-driven musical project by Mons, developed in collaboration with Julian Lennon as a refined intersection of music, storytelling, and contemporary creative research. Conceived as a sequence of interconnected episodes rather than a traditional album, the project unfolds as a narrative cycle, offering a cohesive and emotionally layered listening experience.

At its thematic core, The Merry-Go-Round Episodes reflects on the cyclical nature of human experience—memory, fragility, repetition, and renewal. The merry-go-round becomes a powerful metaphor for emotional motion: a continuous return to familiar inner landscapes, where each rotation brings subtle transformation rather than stasis. The episodes function as narrative chapters, each contributing to a broader story that is deeply personal yet universally resonant.

Musically, the project blends intimate songwriting with modern, cinematic production aesthetics. Organic instrumentation, nuanced arrangements, and carefully balanced dynamics create an atmosphere of restraint and depth, allowing emotional details to emerge with clarity. The sonic language is contemporary but timeless, privileging authenticity and emotional precision over excess, and reinforcing the introspective character of the work.

The project’s multidisciplinary dimension is further enriched by the contribution of Sandrina Bonetti Rubelli, designer, cultural practitioner, and curator of the screenplays. Her role is central in shaping the narrative structure and conceptual coherence of the episodes, translating musical themes into a broader storytelling framework. Through this collaboration, the project expands beyond music into a unified creative vision.

Together, these contributions position The Merry-Go-Round Episodes as a sophisticated artistic statement—one that embodies MONS’ commitment to cross-disciplinary collaboration, meaningful content, and emotionally driven contemporary creativity.
